HYSYS Unit Op Lab Examples

Examples using HYSYS to simulate and analyze distillation columns in the UF Unit Operations Laboratory.

HYSYS Distillation Tutorial

HYSYS Distillation Tutorial describes how to model the UF Unit Operations Laboratory distillation columns. Two case studies are included to illustration the use of HYSYS for both continuous operations. The transient conditions for continuous distillation startup and batch operations are modeled.  The following case studies developed in the tutorial can be downloaded and imported to HYSYS.

HYSYS Absorption Tutorial

HYSYS Absorption Tutorial describes how to model the UF Unit Operations Laboratory absorption columns.

Deaeration Subsystem Tutorial

A tutorial on the use of HYSYS in the context of the deaeration analysis experiment.

Thin  Film Evaporator

A model of the thin film evaporator in the Unit Operations Laboratory is provided.  Use as a template, the parameters and specifications have been purposely distorted. While simulations with these parameters work, the values are not correct for the evaporator in the laboratory.  Review the specifications of the evaporator and input your own values.

Double Effect Evaporator

A simple model of the double effect evaporator in the Unit Operations Laboratory is provided. This model is based on heaters and might best be used for evaluating material and energy balances when the vacuum pressure is known.

A more extended model of the double effect evaporator based on heat exchanger modules is provided which can be used to predict the full operation.
