Simulation Diagram

Figure 2 illustrate the HYSYS simulation diagram of the stripper.

Model Description

The stream named water enters the top of the  column named stripper while the streams air and steam enters the bottom. The exit streams from the column are named after there expected phases: vapor and liquid.

Setting up the PFD

  1. Complete the Flash Separator tutorial and save a copy as Steam Stripper.
  2. Click on the Separator and then press the delete key.
  3. Select the absorber icon from the object palette and install in on the PFD.
  4. Double click on the absorber to open its window.
  5. Click in the box located below # Stages.
  6. Type 1.
  7.  Enter the stream names shown in figure 3.

  8. Press the Next button. The pressure at the top and bottom of the column should have been specified already.
  9. Press the Next button again.
  10. Since the temperature is optional, press the Done button.
  11. Next press the Run button. the column should converge.

Viewing Results

  1. Click on the workbook icon.
