Plan of Attack

Process Description

In the steam stripper/absorber, steam enters a column at the bottom while water enters at the top.  The air stream is also fed into the bottom of the column.. The as the steam moves up the column, it is 'washed' by the water and air. Since the water is cooler than the steam, heat is transferred from the steam to the water. By removing heat from the steam, some of the steam condenses. Figure 1 presents a diagram of a steam stripping/absorption process.

Solution Outline

  1. Use an old file that contains the stream specifications as the modeling source.
  2. Install a HYSYS absorber to model the stripping.

Assumptions

  1. The components behave according to the PRSV equation of state.
  2. There is no heat loss to the environment.
