Process Description

The makeup and feed water system of the cogeneration plant functions as a source for recycle of  energy and H2O. Steam is mixed with water in the steam stripper and the condensed stream is the treated with chemicals and then pump out to the steam generator. Figure 1 presents a schematic of the process.

Basis of Calculation

Information given in table 1.

Solution Outline

  1. In HYSYS, install the necessary operations needed to model the section of the plant.
  2. Define streams based on information provided in table 1.

Assumptions

  1. The components behave according to the PRSV equation of state.
  2. There is no heat loss or gained from the environment.
  3. The flow rates of the following streams are negligible: 2, 9,20, and 23.
  4. In the heat exchangers, the  hot stream flow through the shell, while the cold stream flow through the tube.
  5. Assume  the pressure drop across both sides of the heat exchangers is zero.
